Concept Artist

Housemarque is looking for a Concept Artist!

As a Concept Artist your job is to sketch, ideate and iterate brave new worlds, creatures and basically everything we want the game to have. Mostly your day to day is coming up with quick visual ideas. Production art isn’t pretty, idea behind the design is that what matters not the quality of the artpiece. But don’t worry! Your job is also to do polished marketing illustrations and mood paintings. So good draftsmanship and painting skills are required.

 

REQUIRED

  • Good foundational skills of 2D drawing and painting
  • Good understanding of lighting, color theory, perspective, composition and design fundamentals
  • Good understanding of human and animal anatomy
  • You can adopt to different styles and develop your own as well

Level Designer / Senior Level Designer

Level Designer / Senior Level Designer

Housemarque is looking for a Level Designer / Senior Level Designer!

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • You will be expected to own level designs from conception to the final stages of polish
  • Degree of self-drive: knowing where to focus without continuous guidance
  • Proactively drive communication and coordination with different departments
  • Prototype the environment, establish the layouts and learn ways to use interactive and non-interactive means to create emotion for the player
  • You understand how to control the accessibility, clarity and difficulty of the level
  • You know how to implement the desired gameplay in the levels
  • You know how to work under time constraints and focus on the most important parts
  • You are self-driven to actively play through levels, actively finding ways to improve them and keeping them up to date

 

EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ years of experience in the games industry working in a level design capacity, shipping at least one title
  • Knowledge and experience working with next-generation 3D level editors (Unreal, CryEngine, in house 3D tools etc.) or other 3D software packages
  • Experience working with a game engine, using scripting tools to orchestrate events, and implementing 3D work into the pipeline.
  • Experience in rapid prototyping to test feasibility of concepts, layouts and encounters
  • Experience in working with levels from early prototyping to release

 

SKILLS

Art Director

Art Director

Housemarque is looking for an Art Director!

Housemarque is looking for an Art Director with proven track record and portfolio of designing games, levels and graphics styles. Your responsibility would be to create a vision of the game visuals and direct an art team towards that goal. You also would work together with an Outsource Manager in directing the look and feel of  outsourced assets. You will also need to be proactive and capable of handling pressure, as well as being able to work and solve problems independently.

 

REQUIRED

  • At least 2 years of experience as an Art Lead/Art Director in a current generation console or PC game project
  • Strong understanding of modern game graphics requirements, technologies, 3D softwares and tools
  • Experience in outsourcing pipelines
  • Ability to get your hands dirty and create some of the graphics by yourself
  • Possess a good eye for decoration, composition, detail, light and color
  • Good ey for bipedal/quadruped movement and animation
  • Knowledge of storytelling and ability to design and direct cutscenes when necessary
  • Be able to think visually and see the broader picture to co-ordinate effectively
  • Understanding on how good looking graphics can be used to support gameplay

As a Tech Artist your responsibility is to help manage art tools pipeline. You will also need to be proactive and capable of handling pressure, as well as being able to work independently, if needed.

  • At least 2 years of experience as a tech artist in a current generation console or a PC game project or at least
  • One shipped title for any of the following platforms: PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, PC
  • Strong skills in Python, with Houdini, Maya or Modo
  • Good skills with HLSL or VEX language
  • Proactive – able to work as an own unit, if needed

Housemarque is looking for a Senior 3D Artist!

As a Senior 3D Artist you work as part of the art team, together with other artists and designers. You’ll develop great looking visuals that match the game vision and support the gameplay. Your main task is to do visual problem solving with designers, from smallest prop to biggest set piece. You’ll be able to creatively participate in all steps of the project, from early concept to final product. You have an ability to meet deadlines under tight schedules, willingness to receive direction and work closely with the team.

 

REQUIRED

  • At least 3-4 years of experience as game artist in a current generation console or a PC game project or at least one shipped title for any of the following platforms: PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, PC
  • Good foundational skills of drawing and concepting ideas
  • Advanced knowledge of Maya, Modo, Blender or any equivalent 3D modelling software
  • Good knowledge of Zbrush
  • Good high poly modelling skills
  • Good understanding of low poly topology, retopology workflows and baking textures from high poly models

Housemarque is looking for a 3D Character Artist!

As a 3D Character Artist your responsibility is to create game characters in wide range of roles, from protagonist characters to compelling NPC characters and all the way to weird and disgusting alien creatures and bosses. You have solid understanding on game character readability and ability to design characters to portray different gameplay requirements. You work closely with animators and riggers to ensure models deform correctly and achieve a high level of functionality and design aesthetics. You have an ability to meet deadlines under tight schedules, willingness to receive direction and work closely with a team.

 

REQUIRED

  • At least 3-4 years of experience as game artist in a current generation console or a PC game project or at least one shipped title for any of the following platforms: PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, PC
  • Strong drawing, sculpting, and conceptualization skills with an ability to adapt to established styles
  • Advanced knowledge of human and animal anatomy
  • Advanced knowledge of Maya, Modo, Blender or any equivalent 3D modelling software
  • Understanding of clean edge flow and best practices for modeling for animation performance
  • Advanced sculpting experience with Zbrush

Senior Animator

Senior Animator

Housemarque is looking for a Senior Animator!

As a Senior Animator your responsibility is to be in charge of the animating, the rigging and the implementing of the animations in the state machine driven animation system. You will need to be proactive and capable of handling pressure. You are not afraid to take responsibility and are able to work independently, if needed. You boldly tackle new challenges and deeply understand how animation works with the gameplay.

The tasks for a senior animator at Housemarque allow expressing oneself with a wide spectrum, all the way from animating humans to weird alien lifeforms and everything in-between, from gameplay animation to cutscenes.

We would kindly like to underline, that all senior animator applicants must meet the required qualifications listed below. This position is suitable only for a firmly experienced game animator, who knows what a full modern development cycle demands and doesn’t need to be taught the basics of a modern game animation pipeline.

 

REQUIRED

  • At least 4 years of experience as an animator in a current generation console or PC game project AND at least one shipped title for any of the following platforms: PS4, XBOX One, Wii U, PC, Switch
  • Firm production experience in working with animation statemachine systems/trees
