Housemarque is looking for a Tools Programmer!

We’re looking for motivated candidates who enjoy variety and challenges. As a Tools Programmer you will be part of a game development team. Your responsibility is to implement custom tools that enable game developers to make the best possible game using UE4. You’ll design the tools together with the other developers. There’s a lot to do in tools and game development, so we can tailor the job description to fit your skills and desires.

Art / Animation

Senior Level Artist

Senior Level Artist

Housemarque is looking for a Senior Level Artist!

Housemarque is looking for an experienced Level Artist with proven track record for creating beautiful and immersive game levels. Your responsibility would be to work closely with the Level Designers to design and create working environments. You will also collaborate with Environment Artists who’ll provide you with final models and textures. You will need to be proactive and capable of handling pressure, as well as being able to work and solve problems independently.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 2 years of experience as a Level Artist in a current generation console or a PC game project or at least one shipped title for any of the following platforms: PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, PC
  • Good experience in working with Unreal and its materials and environment tools. Experience in other game editors is also a big plus.
  • Understanding of how to create good looking environments within the constraints of gameplay and performance requirements.
  • Keen eye for image composition, details distribution, gameplay readability, artistic unity and lighting.
  • Understanding of modular construction methods as it relates to design, memory and performance
  • Ability to collaborate with Level Designers and Environment Artists to find the best possible union of both disciplines.
  • Strong modelling and texturing skills in at least one major 3D software and Substance texturing tools.
  • Ability to create variations of assets created by the Environment Artists.
  • Fluent spoken and written English and good communication skills overall.

  • One shipped title for any of the following platforms: PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, PC

Senior Animator

Senior Animator

Housemarque is looking for a Senior Animator!

As a Senior Animator your responsibility is to be in charge of the animating, the rigging and the implementing of the animations in the state machine driven animation system. You will need to be proactive and capable of handling pressure. You are not afraid to take responsibility and are able to work independently, if needed. You boldly tackle new challenges and deeply understand how animation works with the gameplay.

The tasks for a senior animator at Housemarque allow expressing oneself with a wide spectrum, all the way from animating humans to weird alien lifeforms and everything in-between, from gameplay animation to cutscenes.

We would kindly like to underline, that all senior animator applicants must meet the required qualifications listed below. This position is suitable only for a firmly experienced game animator, who knows what a full modern development cycle demands and doesn’t need to be taught the basics of a modern game animation pipeline.

 

REQUIRED

  • At least 4 years of experience as an animator in a current generation console or PC game project AND at least one shipped title for any of the following platforms: PS4, XBOX One, Wii U, PC, Switch
  • Firm production experience in working with animation statemachine systems/trees
  • Strong keyframing skills – ability to produce high quality animation within set time limits

Housemarque is looking for a Writer for an unannounced AAA game. We’re looking for a writer who understands story structure, drama and interactive storytelling, and is familiar with the particular challenges and opportunities present when writing for games. The ideal candidate has written professionally on at least one shipped AAA game title and has a proven ability to craft meaningful stories that resonate with a broad range of players.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate closely with our creative director, artists and designers to create a rich, compelling narrative for a AAA experience.
  • Represent the narrative department to ensure new designs and art assets conform to pre-existing narrative, and generate narrative to support new design and art choices.
  • Generate outlines, story treatments, character descriptions, scene breakdowns, and other support materials to advance the narrative vision.
  • Identify narrative problems and brainstorm creative solutions with your peers.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • At least one professional writing credit. This may include a released video game, purchased screenplay or published book.
  • Ability to adapt style to match the project’s current tone and character voices.
  • Ability to write creative characters, dialogue, scenes and world-building.
  • Comfortable working with both high-level synopses and low-level details, as required.
  • Willing to accept and provide constructive feedback and work through multiple iterations.
  • Solid understanding of game design fundamentals and game development practices.
  • Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, oversee and implement systems for players experience; from traditional feedback and control systems to mini-games, action beats, weapons and role-playing mechanics
  • Take ownership of multiple game systems and drive them to final quality
  • Prototype new ideas and systems with existing tools
  • Contribute to the overall game design

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • 3+ years of experience shipping AAA console, PC, or mobile titles in design roles
  • Experience with modern game editors such as UE4, CryEngine, Source or equivalent
  • Must have some programming or scripting experience
  • Ability to conceptualize, prototype, and iterate on features

Senior Level Designer

Senior Level Designer

Housemarque is looking for a Senior Level Designer!

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • You will be expected to own level designs from conception to the final stages of polish
  • Degree of self-drive: knowing where to focus without continuous guidance
  • Proactively drive communication and coordination with different departments
  • Prototype the environment, establish the layouts and learn ways to use interactive and non-interactive means to create emotion for the player
  • You understand how to control the accessibility, clarity and difficulty of the level
  • You know how to implement the desired gameplay in the levels
  • You know how to work under time constraints and focus on the most important parts
  • You are self-driven to actively play through levels, actively finding ways to improve them and keeping them up to date

 

EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ years of experience in the games industry working in a level design capacity, shipping at least one title
  • Knowledge and experience working with next-generation 3D level editors (Unreal, CryEngine, in house 3D tools etc.) or other 3D software packages
  • Experience working with a game engine, using scripting tools to orchestrate events, and implementing 3D work into the pipeline.
  • Experience in rapid prototyping to test feasibility of concepts, layouts and encounters
  • Experience in working with levels from early prototyping to release
