The Nex Machina is set in a "Cablepunk" world

2016 Housemarque

Hi there, it’s time for another small update on our Nex Machina. After revealing a very early concept and the competitive focus of the game, we now take a look at what the actual visual style of the game will be. We call it “Cablepunk”, and you can hear all about it in the embedded video:

Harry Krueger, Game Director for the project, explains: “In a lot of science fiction movies or games you see clean curves, clean energy… although that works it feels a bit sterile to me […] Cablepunk is basically retro-Cyberpunk. It shares a lot of similarities, but it’s very retro in its aesthetic […] it relies on more primitive parts: you see a lot of cables, a lot of panels with blinking lights…”

More on the ‘Jarvis Project’, including the game’s final name and first gameplay video will be unveiled in the upcoming months.

That’s all for today!

You can download the artwork in hi-res from HERE.
